What makes a transcript credible to a college?

What does the military ask for?
Both a diploma and a transcript. Since the 2012 and 2014 defense bills, homeschool graduates enlist as Tier 1, on equal footing with public-school graduates. Keep a transcript ready, take the ASVAB, and skip the GED.

How do GPA and credits work?
- •One credit is a full-year course (about 120 to 150 hours of work). A semester is 0.5.
- •GPA runs on a 4.0 scale: A is 4.0, B is 3.0, and so on.
- •Weighted GPA adds 0.5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP. This tool figures both for you as you type.

Are there state or NCAA rules to know about?
- •A few states (Pennsylvania, New York, North Dakota) spell out required courses, so confirm yours before you finalize credits.
- •In California, families who file a Private School Affidavit are a private school that issues its own transcripts.
- •For college athletics, the NCAA asks for more: 16 core courses, a 9th-grade start date, and short course descriptions.

How should I print and send it?
